Our Vision

The vision of the Ridge Area Arc is to be the best consumer-focused provider of services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Highlands and the surrounding counties.

Our Services

Adult Day Training

ADT Services stress training in the activities of daily living, self-advocacy, adaptive and social skills. ADT is provided Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Training is provided on a one-on-one basis and in small groups.

Community Services

Community Services provides support and trains individuals to acquire their own home or apartment. Supports are provided by a Supported Living Coach who assists in developing a budget and in securing an apartment or house of their choice.

Supported Employment

Supported Employment referrals are accepted from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Highlands County School Board, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, individuals and families receive training on interview and resume skills, assistance with seeking the kind of job they desire, and help to stay happy and productive employees.

Group Homes

Group Homes provide a family-like environment for individuals to ensure safe and appropriate living. Supervision is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Vocational Training

Vocational Training offers valuable job skills in real-world situations. Training is provided at Jimmy’s Flower Shop and our Resale store in Avon Park.

    Jimmy’s Flower Shop is Now Open

    In Avon Park

    Ridge Area Arc and Jimmy’s Flower Shop have formed a truly unique partnership in Avon Park. Jimmy’s Flower Shop is not only a successful, full-service florist, it is also a vocational training site for individuals with disabilities.

    This project will succeed with the support of the local community. For flowers for any occasion, contact Sacara Tyler at 863-453-7502

    The Arc Vehicle Donation Program

    The Arc carries out its mission of protecting and promoting the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families through innovative programs. Our initiatives touch almost every aspect of life in the community. By sharing our knowledge and conducting training and events, our programs help connect communities and inform efforts to broaden inclusion across the country.
